LABOUR MARKET RESEARCH IN REPUBLIKA SRPSKA 2020/2021. – OCCUPATIONS IN HIGHEST DEMAND IN THE LABOUR MARKET OF REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

The aim of this customized report is to offer useful information to support labor market policy design in the context of employment prospects for individual occupations and the plans for training and retraining. This report provides an overview of the most sought-after occupations, but also the occupations most affected by layoffs. In addition, this report states which problems employers have encountered the most in certain occupations.

The research of the labour market by the Employment Service of the Republic
of Srpska began in October 2020, with the preparation of the questionnaire.
In October and November, questionnaires were tested, sampling done, and
regional coordinators and interviewers trained to conduct the survey. Data
were collected from 1 to 31 December 2020.
The sampling method used in this study is the stratified sampling approach,
with the key stratification variables being sector (KD2010 activity classification)
and company size. A total of 978 responses were collected from employers
in Republika Srpska.

In 2020, the employers employed 3,130 workers, 1,449 of which were employed
due to an increase in business volume (46.3%). Of the total number
of new employees, 1,024 are women (32.7%). The largest percentage of employees
was in activity C – Manufacturing (34.4% of new employees), followed
by activity G – Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles
(20.5%) and activity H – Transport and storage (13.6%).
